Career counseling is often done terribly

Career counseling class was the most boring part of my graduate education. We learned assessments, career development theory, different job search strategies, and how to write resumes. Since I came from the world of HR, there was a lot of review and a lot of me thinking “this is not even how jobs work in the real world..” Additionally, a lot of my clients are mid-career professionals with jobs, salary requirements, and mortgages. Who cares if I should have been an astronaut - I’m 45 years old and that ship has sailed, friends. So I set out to develop something different… something based on my understanding of what a healthy work/life balance looks like.

Over 2016, I developed a 130 page workbook. Then, like most ADHDers, I put it on a shelf to gather dust. In late 2024, I took it down from the shelf and decided to turn it into this course… right here.

My hope for you is that this guide will help you use evidence-based best practices from mental health therapy to understand your work life and move toward work that fits more seamlessly into the life you’re building for yourself.
